Guiding the Development of the Largest Overseas Potash Base: Chinese Ambassador's Counselor Visits the Laos Potash Base to Conduct Research

On the morning of May 16, 2024, Mr. Zhao Wenyu, Counselor of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in the Lao PDR, led an official delegation to conduct a working visit and policy-oriented research at Asia-Potash’s potash production base in Laos. Mr. Liu Yonggang, Vice President of Asia-Potash and Executive Vice President of China National Agricultural Potash Fertilizer Co., Ltd., together with senior members of the company’s management team, extended a formal welcome and accompanied the delegation during the site inspection and technical briefing. 

Counselor Zhao Wenyu commended Asia-Potash for its outstanding development achievements and its rigorous, results-oriented operational ethos. He highlighted that the company’s rapid emergence as Southeast Asia’s largest potash producer represents a demonstrable and substantive contribution to China–Laos economic and trade cooperation. Counselor Zhao urged the company to sustain its leadership role by steadfastly adhering to safety-first and environmentally sustainable practices, advancing production capacity and infrastructure development in a phased and disciplined manner, and further strengthening its strategic contribution to regional potash security and global food system resilience. He also emphasized the importance of proactive and transparent corporate communication—calling on Asia-Potash to systematically enhance external stakeholder engagement, ensure accurate and balanced representation of its progress and impact, and fully leverage its unique position as a trusted bilateral conduit between China and Laos.
