Sowing Ceremony for Triple-Cropping Rice at Vientiane Base
On November 1st, Asia-Potash successfully held a demonstration ceremony for drone seeding of modern three-season rice at its planting base in Tulakong District, Vientiane Province, Laos. This marked the official establishment of the third three-season rice planting demonstration base in Laos. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Kangpa Sulinpumi, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos, Mr. Kansawan xiankasuo, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry of Vientiane Province, as well as government officials, Mr. Zong Guofu, Special Assistant to the Chairman of Asia-Potash, Mr. Liu Feilong, Assistant General Manager of Sino-Agri, and local village representatives.
Dr. Kangpa Uulinpumi pointed out that, based on the actual yield of 7.7 tons per hectare for three-season rice inChampasak Province, the annual yield of three-season rice per hectare will exceed 21 tons! This marks a significant shift in Laos' rice farming, from one-season to three-season cultivation, and drives the modernization and transformation of Laos' agriculture. The demonstration of three-season rice planting in Vientiane Province signifies that the locals’ incomes will experience exponential growth. Increased rice production and agricultural prosperity will lead to a transformative change in the agricultural development of Vientiane.
Kansawan Xiankasuo stated that Asia-Potash has introduced high-quality rice varieties from abroad, which can be cultivated three seasons a year. This will significantly improve the livelihoods of locals and have strong influence on the agricultural and economic development of Vientiane Province.
The company's three-season rice project is guided throughout by an internationally advanced agricultural technology team. The goal is to ensure high rice yields while significantly reducing seed and planting input costs as production increases. Mr. Zong Guofu emphasized that the project will use large drones for works such as seeding, fertilizing, and pesticide spraying, and in the future, large combine harvesters will be introduced to fully implement mechanized operations. The company hopes that the implementation of the three-season rice project will help Laos develop modern, high-yield agriculture and achieve increased grain production and higher incomes for farmers.
